We have also planned an authentic two-course Georgian meal afterwards at Little Georgia (http://bit.ly/1s7POaf). We will travel as a group on the train, leaving Cambridge around 11.45am and returning around 8.30pm.

Price including travel, banya and meal will be around £65. Additional treatments at the banya can be booked at extra cost, including parenie (two veniks), honey & sea salt scrub, coffee scrub, body wash, massage etc. To make this trip viable, we need firm commitment from 15 people including a £30 deposit (due by 1st February). В настоящее время он работает над новой книгой и поделится яркими, остроумными, проницательными зарисовками о десяти наиболее избитых образах, символизирующих Россию и русскую жизнь в глазах иностранцев и порой самих русских (водка, нефть, мафия и т.д.). Мы узнаем, когда точно они возникли, при каких обстоятельствах, как развивались; ознакомимся как с «живыми», так и с «мёртвыми» стереотипами (теми, что не прижились).

По окончании беседы — обсуждение за круглым столом, вино, соки и закуска.

Yuliy Kim belongs to the brilliant constellation of Russian “bards” of the “first generation” and takes his rightful place among the great names, such as Vysotsky, Okudzhava, Galich, Vizbor. In fact, he is one of the first, and the “last of the Mohicans.”

But Kim is much more than just a Russian “bard”. If you enter “Yuliy Kim” into Google, in Russian, you will obtain 740,000 search results. One needs to read the article about him in Wikipedia in order to grasp the whole scale of his personality and influence on Russian culture and a few generations of Russian people, if you do not know who he is.

Kim is also known as an active member of the human rights movement in the USSR in the 1960s, which is reflected in his so-called “seditious” (or riotous) songs of the Soviet era.

Of all his fellow “bards”, Yuliy Kim is the most theatrical one; people remember by heart his songs from such films as “An Ordinary Miracle”, “The Twelve Chairs”, “The House That Swift Built”, “Bumbarash”, “Man from Boulevard des Capucines”, “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Pippi Longstocking”, “The Ugly Duckling”, “A Nanny with Moustache”,”The Dog’s Heart” – as well as from the plays “As You Like It”, “The Minor” and many others.
