The British and the Germans are competing in buying up antique sculpture in Italy; in Amsterdam\u00a0dealers and collectors from all over Europe purchase\u00a0artworks and exotica, brought from Asia by the East India Company.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6283 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.camruss.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/38-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/>Empress Catherine II massively buys up paintings in Paris, Dresden, London and Brussels, in rivalry with a Prussian king and collector Frederick the Great. Many\u00a0Russian aristocrats spare no forces for their art collections: Stroganov, Demidov, Yusupov, Golitsyn &#8211; here are a few names that many heard about. However, these collectors with their important acquisitions\u00a0are just the tip of the iceberg.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The art market of the XVIII century is\u00a0a scene\u00a0of action of agents and art dealers; they are involved in negotiations and experts&#8217; appraisals, they\u00a0make strategies full of\u00a0tricks and sometimes cheat in order to get a painting.\u00a0Who are these art dealers? What tricks do they resort to?
