FIRE is the debut feature film of Kazakh film-maker\u00a0Aizhan Kassymbek<\/a><\/strong><\/u>.<\/p>\n

Lead actor Tolepbergen Baisakalov won Best Actor at the\u00a0Sochi International Film Festival & Awards (SIFFA)<\/a><\/strong><\/u>. FIRE premiered at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea before travelling to\u00a0FilmFestival Cottbus in Germany<\/a><\/strong><\/u>, the\u00a0Singapore International Film Festival<\/a><\/strong><\/u>\u00a0and the Asian World Film Festival in Los Angeles, where Baisakalov picked up the Snow Leopard for Best Actor.<\/p>\n

Tolik is an excellent example of a middle-aged family man who lives an ordinary life and does his best to feed his family, with problems that seem never-ending. He is always in debt \u2013 Kazakh weddings and funerals, everything requires money. One day he finds out that his teenage daughter is pregnant. Tolik intends to find out who the father is in order to talk to him about his daughter\u2019s future and the couple\u2019s plans. With all this on his plate, Tolik gets involved in an absurd adventure which almost costs his friend his life.\u00a0After experiencing all this hardship he finally understands what the most important things in life are. It is this understanding and acceptance that bring him hope.<\/p>\n
