Among her teachers, was the famous romantic actress Cecilia Mansurova. Maeva\u2019s first performances as an actress were at the Moscow Comedy Theatre, where she played many roles from the Russian and international repertoire. \u00a0For nearly 25 years, Natalia has been working at the New Drama Theatre in Moscow. Among her roles were Tina in \u201c<em>The Aspern Papers<\/em>\u201d by Henry James, C\u00e9cile de Volanges in \u201c<em>The Dangerous Liaisons<\/em>\u201d by \u00a0Pierre Choderlos de Laclos\u00a0, Mother in \u201c<em>The Moscow Stories of Love and Marriage<\/em>\u201d (based on Alexander Ostrovsky\u2019s plays \u201c<em>Tushino<\/em>\u201d and \u201c<em>Not of the Same Ilk!<\/em>\u201d), to name but a few. The latter performance was shown at the <em>Sixth Theatre Festival<\/em> in Marcel, France.<\/p>\n<p>Her work in theatre was highly acclaimed by many critics. Her monodrama\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/camruss.us2.list-manage1.com\/track\/click?u=588ab11fb5d5caedbfb093925&amp;id=1f4fe514af&amp;e=ac947aa4f6\">\u201cThe Human Voice\u201d<\/a>\u00a0by Jean Cocteau was very warmly received in France, and a whole programme about the actress was broadcast on the International French Radio (RFI) in Paris in 2001.<\/p>\n<p>Boris Lvov-Anokhin, a renowned Russian stage director, theatre critic and the leader of the New Drama Theatre in the 1990s, once commented on Natalia:\u00a0<em>\u201cMaeva is a person, who is fully immersed in art; one who is always\u00a0deeply moved by some performance, artist, book or music\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to acting, Natalia Maeva writes essays, memoirs and reviews. In 2006, Natalia published her book\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/camruss.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=588ab11fb5d5caedbfb093925&amp;id=3145b7e5f0&amp;e=ac947aa4f6\">\u201c<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/camruss.us2.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=588ab11fb5d5caedbfb093925&amp;id=5b70709c83&amp;e=ac947aa4f6\">Evanescences: Entries from an Actress\u2019s Diary\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She continues to perform, with many solo concerts in Russia and abroad, including her performances in the UK (in London, Oxford and Cambridge).
