It was launched in December 2010, and was originally coordinated by Yekaterina Gorodova (2010-11), who was a constant source of inspiration, new challenges and endeavours, and the Russian literary news. Among the first members of the Club were Olga Dunstan, Tanya Yurasova, Elena Karazhova and Elena Alexander.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.camruss.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Book-Club-meeting.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3288 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.camruss.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Book-Club-meeting.jpg\" alt=\"Book Club meeting\" width=\"296\" height=\"171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/camruss.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Book-Club-meeting.jpg 577w, https:\/\/camruss.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Book-Club-meeting-300x174.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 296px) 100vw, 296px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The idea of the Club is to read books written in Russian and discuss them once a month. The meetings used to take place in one of the members\u2019 houses or in a cafe, in a warm and friendly atmosphere with tea and cake, lots of fun and sharing of deep thoughts and observations, all at the same time! In the past the Club has published a few issues of \u201c<em>Literaturnyi Listok<\/em>\u201d, an electronic newsletter, covering the most recent happenings in the Club and literature news in general.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3289 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.camruss.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Book-Club-Rubina.jpg\" alt=\"Book Club Rubina\" width=\"268\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/camruss.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Book-Club-Rubina.jpg 530w, https:\/\/camruss.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Book-Club-Rubina-300x207.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 268px) 100vw, 268px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the initiative of Yekaterina Gorodova and the Club members, an internationally acclaimed contemporary Russian writer, <strong>Dina Rubina<\/strong>, was invited to Cambridge, and met with the Russian-speaking community in King\u2019s College in April 2011. We also held a special meeting devoted to <strong>Pushkin\u2019s poetry<\/strong> on his anniversary on 6th June 2011. In 2012, we welcomed to Cambridge <strong>Ludmilla Ulitskaya<\/strong>, and in 2013 the Club, together with other members of CamRuSS, organised an evening of short stories with <strong>Mikhail Segal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3302 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.camruss.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Book-Club-Ulitskaya-short.jpg\" alt=\"Book Club Ulitskaya short\" width=\"273\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/camruss.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Book-Club-Ulitskaya-short.jpg 455w, https:\/\/camruss.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Book-Club-Ulitskaya-short-300x164.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 273px) 100vw, 273px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In autumn 2011, Yelena Karl took over the coordination of the book club from Yekaterina.
